The question, “Why do Black girls’ literacies matter in today’s society” was posed by the Black Girls’ Literacies Collective (BGLC), a group of five Black woman scholars who conduct research and write with and about Black girls’ multiple identities and literacies in and out of academic spaces. Sherell Mc Arthur, Assistant Professor of Elementary Education, is a member of the collective.
